Thoughts and prayers for any in our community who might be affected by the current wildfires in the Los Angeles area.

Yes, they definitely need prayers. Horrible scenes being shown on the news with entire neighborhoods being completely consumed, inhabitants losing everything!

My Prayers, too, will be with the affected inhabitants and the very brave and determined rescue services tonight.

Well done to them, keep up the good work!

Having come through the 2012 fires in Colorado, I also wish the folks in California all the best. I hope they are packing their cars, so they are ready to go if an evacuation is ordered for their area, and staying around their homes, so they can go and take their families and pets with them, because when the evacuation is ordered, the authorities usually don't want to let anybody back into the neighborhood. Driving through clouds of smoke can be scary, especially for children and pets.

We've been praying ever since this started. It's horrific.

Thank you for your worry and concern.

It seems I will be one of the lucky ones. Wednesday night the Sunset fire evacuation zone came down to 15 blocks from my house, and I had my family prepping to pack in case the zone extended further. But fortunately that worry and a short power outage was all we endured and that fire has been defeated.

The Palisades fire continues. My brother-in-law lost his dwelling along with thousands of others. After devastating the Pacific Palisades and Malibu, last night the fire reversed direction and crossed the hills inland. Friday night the mandatory evac zone ended at my step-father's back yard fence. He is in the warning zone and has bags packed.

The Eaton and other fires continue; I don't personally know people affected but tens of thousands are evacuated and hundreds or thousands have lost housing. Angeles National Forest is closed.

The hurricane winds from the first 2 days have subsided so the stupendous fire fighting efforts are able to make headway. Winds are still a factor and each day they may get worse; high winds and red flag conditions are predicted again early next week.

Fingers crossed / pray for as little loss of life as possible.
