Over the past year I have played several games using Simon MacDowell's 'Alala!' rules for Hoplite warfare and found them enjoyable. The following link contains a review of the rules, together with a couple of battle report.

Oh, I really liked that! Love your choice of scale too! I'd like to pick up a copy but there is no pdf that I have seen. I live in the US so that's the option for me. I own most of his rules in that format.
