  Here is the Cannae scenario played with my Optio Vassal module. It was a huge game – the biggest Optio game I've attempted thus far. Optio is useful in that everything is numbers, so one can tweak things so that the historical tactics produce the historical results. I would still change a few things to this game, but the outcome is close enough.   ealistic outcome it would seem. Close enough. If I try the scenario again I would send in a thinner line of Gallic/Iberian cavalry first to weaken the Roman cavalry and then follow up with the thicker line. The thinner line should weaken the Romans enough for the thicker line to finish them off quickly. It will probably mean the rout of the thinner line but that's the cost of victory. |  |
