Hello TMP'rs & and Happy New Year
I'm looking for a single book that has the combined stats
for WW II Tanks & Armored Vehicles.
-Armor (stats for Front, Side etc.)
-Speed
-Gun Type
I've seen several over the years and have several books myself but not one that contains all the main types for Allies & Axis. I know someone here has the right Intel.
Thanks in advance.

rather than a book you can find all of that on-line at
wwiitanks.co.uk

Thanks very much. Just the Intel I need.

It does need careful checking.

I thought it would prove invaluable and looked up the M3A3 light tank for the US, then the Jumbo. The illustration for the former is not an M3A3, the latter seems to be armed with solely three MGs, the weight is "unknown" and it was based "on the tank destroyer chassis". Then the M8 armoured car lacks any MGs mind you, which makes me wonder why most have that ring mount for a 50 calibre. The M4 does not get a mention.

After following 4 topics I did feel more work needed here

I would recommend "WWII Ballistics and Armor" by Bird and Livingston if you can find it. It's detailed and technical but was written for wargames.

This is another good site. The armor and gunnery rules for the Panzer War game are the best-researched and most accurate I could find.

Wolfhag Agree… Panzer-war.ccom is very well researched.
Here's another site you can use to make comparisons to the other site data.

The "Tank Chart" rules has the key stats for every country and every tank/variant.

-Armor (stats for Front, Side etc.)

Most games show the front, side, and rear values which I think is inadequate. There will be many more engagements at an oblique angle of 30-60 degrees rather than a full 90 degree side shot. If you look at the difference between the armor value at 0 degrees and 45 degrees you'll see for yourself.
The WOT has a good app that will tell you the armor values in multiple locations using the vertical and horizontal angles.

Another option is to use the data cards from GMT's board game Panzer, they are free: link

I used the gun penetration data from the Panzer War site.

For armor values, I took the true armor value and fed it into the Relative Armor Calculator: link

For the oblique angle, I used 35 degrees to the frontal armor which is 55 degrees to the side armor. This way I get standardized values for 4 different target aspects.

When doing research, I found different publications use different methods of determining the armor thickness and no one gave the oblique angle values that I was satisfied with.

Cast armor gives 85-95% of the listed armor value, and many early war tanks had very brittle armor that gave less protection than listed. I factored that in too.

Good luck,
Wolfhag
