Get all the nude lead off my table based and primed.

Then paint them.
That's 2 projects.
Comanches vs everyone in Texas. That includes Spanish and Texans.
Marty Robbins "El Paso".

Not to buy any more Plains Indians. Errr… That is AFTER I get the new Comanches from Gringos40, of course. I don't want to commit myself to anything silly, like The Pledge.

Not to buy anything unless I REALLY want it! I think I'm covered…

I'm retiring at the end of January, so my resolution is to double my weekly painting time.

Paint more, play more, argue on TMP less. Hey, I've still a day before the New Year!
wink
evil grin

Okay, more seriously:
I've got a ton of HeroQuest figures left to complete.
Ogre and GEV figs are in the queue to be built and painted.
Got some 10mm stuff long waiting to be painted.
Might do up some 54mm plastic AWI stuff with basic colors.
Same for some Western gunfighters for Boot Hill.
Bunch of spaceships need painting.
Still have yet to make my decades old idea of a "plastic wall anchor" spacefleet.
… and the list goes on.

But what I really need to do is be more frequent with my gaming, no matter what that is. Friends are good for the soul.

I will be playing with new games solo that I bought over the years to "play one day" as my painting came to a screaming halt on October 30th when I tore the tendons in my right (dominant) painting hand. I was hoping to paint 100 figures per month in 2024. I was well on track until that fateful day!! I am waiting for surgery on January 13th, 2025. My hand will be immobilized for at least 3 months and then an extensive long, slow, painful months of physiotherapy to re-learn how to do anything with my hand…if surgery is successful. 😭😭😭

I have four NYR's:
Start purging my board game collection.
Stop sponsoring Kickstarters for new board wargames.
Get my 10-12mm figures painted, possibly by Fernando.
Make a list of all the 20mm WWII items I have, especially unpainted items still in baggies or boxes.

I'll be glad if I get at least 2 out of 4 actually done.

The usual

No new projects. Paint more than I buy. Play more. Drag out projects that haven't seen the light of day in 25 years.

All promises will be out the door by January 2nd. But it's okay. I turn 70 in August. I think I've been breaking the same New Year's resolutions for at least 40 of those. I'm good with it.

Amazingly I haven't got any big projects planned for 2025 apart from WW1 Austrians in 15mm. Mainly just bits and pieces and planning some convention games.

The big job is to finish cataloguing everything and do an updated insurance valuation.

Signed up for a local escalation league. I guess Tyranids will be "new year new army."

I would also like to finish the Skaventide box contents.

My convention schedule looks good: LVO, AdeptiCon, Little Wars, Dragon Fall

I'd also like to finish one side for WSS and play some Halo

Paint.

Play.

Buy nothing.

I fail on the third one as soon as the next Reaper Bones is announced. Plus I want the new Dark Alliance sets.

Meet the new year, same as the old year.

Schogun01 Jan 2025 6:49 a.m. PST

No new games.

Wait! What? I already broke that?

Oh well. What can I say? I'm a gamer.

I failed yesterday, as soon as I saw the new Gringos40 Comanches. Since I can order them this Saturday, that's a very early failure.

I thought Bones 6 wasn't as good as 5 and came a little too soon on the heels of it's predecessor. Nevertheless I did buy a bit, but honestly, I don't think I would need to support a Bones 7….

Silly me will continue using The Pledge as motivation and accounting for my painting.

The no new figures resolution has already been preempted by a preorder last November of Hinterland figures.

Two others are, getting figures on the table that haven't ever been out or haven't seen the light of day in years and playing rules I own that fit that same criteria. I was fairly successful with this in 2024 so why not try again.

I really liked some of the scenics – if there are figure sets including an impressive building I'll probably be in for that.

20th…I actually was underwhelmed by the lighthouse. To me it was all hat and no cattle. But my wife liked it so guess what I got?
I did like the Egyptian structures but there wasn't enough figures for me to say "yes" to in that core expansion.
I did pick up the Shadows of Sullenhall though…

Personal logo 20thmaine Supporting Member of TMP01 Jan 2025 3:05 p.m. PST

I liked the lighthouse, the early sculpts were a bit small looking and there were quite a few comments to that effect and Reaper seemed to take that on board as the delivered item was bigger than I'd expected.

I was pleased with the Egyptian structures, but the female deities were a bit Disneyfied which was a shame. But generally I was pleased.

Paint what I've got and then sell as much as I can before I die, have a stroke or develop dementia. Happy New Year!

Finish the CLS armies if possible.
Add limbers to my own 28mm artillery.
Ensure that each 2mm game is complete in a carrying case.
Try to get a lot more games in.

Reduce overall stuff.

I don't really do New Year's resolutions, but in November, I did clean up my hobby room (which was originally a walk-in closet), so I will be able to sit down and paint or build any time I want, without having to move the various boxes and things that had been occupying the floor.

mildbill02 Jan 2025 4:47 a.m. PST

Since I painted four 'the last army I will ever paint' last year I wont be making any foolish resolutions in that direction. My resolution will be to game more with what I have.

Sergeant Paper02 Jan 2025 1:58 p.m. PST

Start building card models again (had to get rid of all my buildings when I moved and my printer was down for a long time).
Make enough buildings to do some gangster actions.
Build some western buildings too.
Paint my firemen for Flash Point Fire Rescue.
Find the big box of lead projects and pick some.
Build up some galleys for Roman Seas.
Start my carracks and caravels project again (designing some renaissance ship models for Lanterna and Spanish Fury: Sail gaming).
Play more games

rustymusket02 Jan 2025 3:19 p.m. PST

I am wavering between buying and painting very little to buying nothing and painting nothing. I don't game and my additions just seems to be more of the same without a reason for it. I recently turned 74 and my hand is beginning to shake enough to make painting an issue. In the end I will see beautiful figs here and probably buy a few and paint.

2025 Projects:

1815 Napoleonics, 15/18mm

Don't buy anymore WWII stuff.
