For several months I have been working on and off again on a project for a dia de los muertos parade. In the James Bond movie SPECTRE there is a such a parade and I think it would be interesting to have such an activity in a miniature spy game.
I also have collected some figures for good vs evil or horror related gaming.
This cheap bone figure is one of several I got at the dollar store. Strelets figure for scale is from the Early WWII Americans set 3.

Would work as a giant for a fantasy game, too.
We've got some folks around here that decorate for Halloween with 10ft skeletons, they always look out of scale.

Using a throw-away brush, I would apply Minwax Polyshades Royal Walnut (any dark Walnut color will suffice). Hang the figure upright, blotting away excess pools. Let it dry fully: 20 minutes for water-based formulas; 3 days for oil-based formulas. When cured, spray it with a matte clear coat.

This will give it a just dug up look, aging it, creating shadows. I've done this before with skeleton figures from 25mm to a life-sized hand. The results were amazing. Yes, this is the traditional Dip Technique, only I prefer to brush it on, rather than dipping the figure. It is amazingly effective. Cheers!

Or paint it brown & dry brush with off white.

All good suggestions, I have several and some have been done using similar techniques to those described.

Thanks Sgt Slag and ZP.
