Hello everyone,

I posted a research article on Pierre-Julien Hamon and his experiences at the Comabt of Sochocin on 24 Dec 1806. I'm unsure if anyone is reading, but I still thought it was interesting to post about!

I find the wound and survival fascinating. Seem to be running into accounts of wounded and all but given up on survived for long after.

A fascinating but tragic tale.

Thank you for checking out his story. There are so many like him who have horrific injuries but somehow survive. Next, I am going to some events in the Combat of Hoff.

Great post! Can't keep a good man down, as they say. Very interesting and showing another side to combat and battles etc.

I am not sure how these men survived. Maybe they have a higher pain tolerance than people today, but some of the injuries, including getting shot in the manhood and then back on the horse in a few weeks, are crazy.
