Pepper spray does work on most of the Bears you my encounter. The trouble is not knowing which ones it doesn't work on. Best to have a rifle which has enough stopping power. |

The difference between black bears and grizzleys is that black bear poop smells like poop…Grizzley poop has little bells in it and smells like bear spry !  |

My expectation would be that a sprayed bear is a very annoyed killing machine and another encounter is imminent. The need for a proper rifle isn't just a convenience, but a necessity. |
