Every year, Mark Smith runs a special Xmas game for us that combines role-playing with wargaming. He excelled himself this time, laying on an epic samurai battle in glorious 28mm. Old school! Full AAR on the BBBBlog here:

Wow, that was pretty awesome! I have loads of painted 1/72 Samurai and it would be great to see what tweaks he did to make it a Samurai game!

Have a Merry Christmas!

Thanks.

John

Cheers, John! The tweaks were simple.

Terrain:
Paddy Fields = Marsh.
Stockade = Linear Obstacle, 1 Cover vs Assault only.

Generals:
May choose to join a unit and fight personally in an Assault.
Add 1 Advantage to their unit.
After the Assault, roll 2D6.
If their unit won, General is killed on a roll of 12.
If their unit lost, General is killed on a roll of 10+.

Weapons:
Cannon – Firepower Factor 4 up to 3"; FF 3 up to 12".
Cannon goes Low Ammo every time it fires (i.e., must reload)
Arquebus – Range 6". Firepower Factor 1 per base.
Bow – Range 9". Firepower Factor 1 per base.
Bows 1 Left shift when firing at Samurai (because of their armour).

Typical Troop Types:
Samurai Cavalry A K Vet
Samurai A K Vet
Samurai A Vet
Ronin A Vet
Ronin A Trnd
(Samurai and Ronin may or may not have Bow)
Ashigaru Trnd
(Ashigaru may or may not have Arquebus or Bow)

A = Aggressive
K = Shock (an additional +1 in Assault)

I hope this helps you get your samurai on the table.

Merry Christmas!
Chris
