Doesn't the US have a similar weapons system ? Or it might still be classified ? Finally, a laser that can actually destroys something… just like in Sci-Fi …

Yes, the US has lasers— we even have ship-mounted lasers. The UK has lasers as well. (I feel confident that these systems are probably very similar, and that Ukraine system is based on these if not actually one of these with a "Made in Ukraine" label. That label might even read "Made in UK raine." )
