In Greenville, Texas, where I spent most of my childhood, decorations for holidays were expected & the neighborhoods vied for prizes for their efforts. My father was an insurance agent & believed it was good for his image to decorate so I pitched in to help, of course. As my parent aged, I was the one to do the hanging of things that needed a ladder. We did get some honorable mentions for our decor. These years we just put a wreath & lights on the front door. |
