Use space mats from MKP,Mats By Mars, and two custom made by fellow gamer.

What other space mats do folks here recommend for spaceship gaming?

It might be out of fashion, but a bought a large sheet of black marine upholstery vinyl years ago from an online fabric store. It rolls up nicely and doesn't take permanent creases. Granted, it's not beautiful like my collection of neoprene printed mats but it works very well just the same!

I use 6'x6' black glitter felt. Looks like a field of stars. It was also cheap (Joann's fabric department, with a 40% coupon).
I keep it rolled up around the plastic sheathing of an old shower curtain pole. By coincidence, I have a plastic cylindrical bag that a Roman curtain came in; it happens to be the perfect storage size for the cloth. No creases.

I used to have a piece of black flooring vinyl. I splattered some white paint randomly over it as stars.

Never noticed glitter felt. Will seek it out.

I have gotten marine upholstery but in grey for north Atlantic ship action. Nasty creases from rolled then folded in remnants, but those relaxed out after a time. Lovely texture reminded me of sea chop at a distance.

Not sure if I would like as space, but it's been so long since I played, I would be willing…

There's some fabric, black with swirl pattern, that reminds me of scenes from Aliens. Thin, but with tension on the edges could work.

UK has some companies with products that are stunning. So is shipping.

Star Wall hangings. Get them from Amazon. I picked up a 6'x8' one for 30 dollars.

Thanks.

That star wall tapestry is a wonderful idea.
Thanks John.

I use some black fleece or felt under it to give it some heft and not slide around. I guess any color would work.
I own 3 of these but different designs.

Thanks.

Go to fabric store and buy the size of cloth needed. Add highlights if desired.

Now that idea of felt underlayer I WILL use!

As most tables I play are 4x6, the hanging is actually two, with a bit of work to prepare the cut edges.

TimePortal: Maybe an airgun with splatter nozzle, or good old toothbrush?

I bought a Deep Cut Studio neoprene mat with a spacescape. Ended up gifting it to a friend, since the only time I played a space game was when I visited him and played with his X-Wing collection.

Agents of Gaming still has these. I picked up four earlier in the year and they work great.
