That incident is horrifying. (It also shows just how hard it is for drones to actually be flown in formation with precision.)

I will say that the Coast Guard vessel's report is the one that makes me take notice. Precision tracking of a military vessel by drones? That ain't hobbyist work, nor is it something a private commercial drone tasked with delivery or security roles would do— least of all a small "flock" of them.

So that incident I think is a case of experimental US military/law enforcement drones being tested in a "real world" situation, without the crew of the vessel being informed. Serves multiple purposes:
1.) Testing the drones' ability for formation flying.
2.) Testing drone ability to find and follow an independently controlled watercraft.
3.) Testing the watercraft crew's ability to find and identify drones.
4.) Testing the watercraft's ability to evade and/or follow the drones (and other tactical choices made by its commander and crew).
5.) Seeing what the response of the crew is, both during and after. At the very least, you now know they will talk about it widely, absent apparently any orders to be silent about it. (One assumes no such orders were given.)
6.) General test of drone command range, flight range, etc., in a real-world surveillance effort.
7.) Using lit, decoy drones in an apparent surveillance effort to test and see if the crew notices unlit/dark surveillance drones also in the area. (That one's a bit out there, honestly. Just trying to be complete.)

The above are entirely plausible explanations for DOD drones in this instance.

Nefarious drones could be testing the Coast Guard reaction (and many of the above concepts), either for smuggling ops or foreign intelligence ops. However, in these cases, the lights become less ideal as a choice for the nefarious operatives, as they expose the existence of the drones and their capabilities to a certain degree. I don't think we're currently at a state where either smugglers or spies really want to expose such abilities. (If you've got a capability which your opposition can't see or detect, you don't do anything to expose it!)

So in that instance, I think the drones are federal/US military, and they're doing a typically poor job of covering it up. (Really, if they aren't any better than this at keeping secret stuff secret, then we don't have any secrets anymore. Might as well put up billboards in China listing all our drone capabilities…)

I really hope we get a logical explanation. One or 2, due to malfunctions or a crash.. understandable. But there were many more and all over the place.

Could some group be experimenting with a potential weapon against drones? To shut them down? Especially over large groups like this, thinking more would be hurt? I am thinking of the car over in Germany last week.

I doubt it was anything done by a third party, least of all intentional. That's some serious tech ability. Plus, terrorists are loudmouths. They always go for the biggest bang, and brag about it afterwards. Some bigoted anti-Western Islamofacist in Germany driving into a bunch of people on a whim is not plausibly linked to a bunch of drones malfunctioning and falling in Florida.

Now, if the drones had spelled out the well-known jihadist cry, and then plummeted into the crowd and blown up… well, yeah that would be a terrorist act.

I think this is a case of bad programming or corrupted code, or possibly poorly maintained drones, rather than any outside factor.

And to the commenter on one of your links who said that a drone falling was somehow less likely to cause injury, go back to science class and learn about gravity. 10m/s^2 is killer. I know a family whose daughter was killed by a tree branch that fell on her head from a height of less than 10 feet. Heavy, falling objects can be deadly— and from the heights shown in the video, very much so.

The drones should NEVER have been flown over the crowd. Period. That company should be sued out of existence, at the very least.

Well again supposed unidentified aircraft have been flying over the skies of the US. And in large numbers. These are not questionable shapes and sizes that is seen with UFOs/UAPs. No saucers, no large cylinders, etc., etc.

Just many aircraft that look like drones or conventional planes. Operating in conventional know ways, maneuvering, etc. Nothing unusual with these aircraft.

So again someone in the WH and DC knows the truth. But for some reason they don't want to say … That makes me very curious as to what are they hiding? And lying again … Which seems to be SOP for this admin and many in Congress.

But again, he may turn out to be okay helping the average Joe.

When Kushner walked away from the WH with a billion from the Saudis, I thought that was wrong. Obama, plus Michelle, at least earned all those publishing fees and advances.

But now we are in another zone altogether. There is a balance to observe. The Peoples' Billionaires might wring neck of the golden goose until the last penny drops. This includes both sides. Half the country is worried. There is no mandate from the narrow margin of victory. Civil war is not likely, but my fingers stay crossed. I would be happy, and relieved to be proven wrong! As I and many others have said. The WH/DC had made 0 – very few good decisions about priorities.

Much too much $ was spent on a Green Agenda which was not really realistic at this point. Including the war of fossil fuel to push/support the Go Green movement.

12-15-20(?)millions of illegal aliens, and a variety of other liberal progressive woke, etc. items. That really had a very negative effect on the Lower to Middle Classes/Blue collar to low wage white collar workers.

Plus another mass of items and agendas that really didn't help the majority of Americans. Again, in the Heartland, that huge area between NYC and CA. Those people that makes America function.

Well as I have said before, many of those that complain about the tax laws. Are in our Gov't and they make the tax laws … Plus they have wealthy friends, friends of friends, lobbyists, etc. that take full advantage of the tax laws.

Many in our Gov't knows things we don't and do what would be considered "insider trading". With that knowledge, making themselves very, very wealthy.

Did someone in this thread advocate taking it away from you? Trump has said multiple times he isn't. I've only heard that voiced in Democratic MSM, obviously saying Trump will. But they have used that scare tactic for years and they are all bloody Plonkers anyway.

I think part of the problem is that whatever we paid into SS/Med gets paid back to us in a few years and then we are on someone else's dime. So John, if you stopped getting benefits after all you put in is used up, can you get by? Us older people are living longer, at least until recently.

While driving home last night, my wife and I saw 2.. possibly a 3rd. 2 had blinking red and green light(opposite) and bright white in the center. Almost stationary for miles. There were also a few small airplanes as well in the sky, but normal movement from them and normal lighting. So very different. The 3rd I believe was possibly a planet, as it looked to be only bright white. As I stated, we have had fly overs at Wight Patterson AFB, even causing the closing for a short time. These were the first I personally have noticed. But we were more in the country and away from city lights.

Yes this is happening and it is spread over the US. I personally believe the Chinese are behind the military bases, but who knows who else. God knows we let enough of our enemies in.
