"Caspar Weinberger was a far-sighted thinker when it came to the future of the US military. The research/writing team for The Next War projected his warnings concerning US defense spending and prioritization. A series of novella-sized narratives, each one centering on a future conflict which highlights the consequences of an underprepared US military. The Next War sought to project Weinberger's thesis that the United States was not effectively preparing for the wars of the future. Unfortunately, the technothriller-like narratives at the core of The Next War might've depleted the book's message. In the view of many readers back in 1998, Weinberger's book came across as a poor-attempt at a Tom Clancy-like technothriller. As a result, the book was read in that context by probably too many readers and its main point was lost…"

I have not heard of such a book before. After your words I wanted to read it after all. I just have some free time because I turned to the writing service at https://ca.edubirdie.com for help at the university. I have liked books about war since childhood. My grandfather had a whole bookcase dedicated to them. I have already read half of the collection.
