I just got these buildings and they seem pretty small for 20mm, anyone else think the same.

I find them ok, I have a number. The church in particular is quite big

Buildings designed for wargames have to consider the "footprint", so tend to be a bit more like caricatures of the real thing.

Waterloo is a classic example. Hougoumont complex did fill about 1/3 of the Western side of the field in reality. As a realistic scale model it would swamp any table top.
