30mm figures from Ravaged Star. Batch painted quickly but not a bad result. |

SpeedPaints, Contrast Paints? I'm a dyed-in-the-wool assembly line painter, using the old-fashioned Dip Technique, brushed on. They look nice, nicer than assembly line block painting followed by The Dip Technique (my style and my approach). Cheers! |

Regular paints with a mixed wash (Vallejo sepia with some Army Painter strong tone) then some highlights. Not a fan of speed paint type paints after my first try turned out poorly. Thanks |

As per Army Painter Reps I spoke to at ORIGINS last year…Speedpaint followed by Soft Tone. Makes a WORLD of difference… Dave |

They look good. I am somewhat concerned that their weapons are held together with baling wire, however. |

CBPIII, your first try with speed paint types can't possibly have looked worse than my first with long fiber enamels back in the day. If you don't like them, fine, but one pass is not a fair trial. I wouldn't use them exclusively--too finicky at the edges--but they can be a great time-saver for the major areas. In my current project, they're flesh, coats, trousers and backpacks, but boots, muskets and facings will be regular acrylics. I share Oberlindes' concern with those weapons. I'd try to be on the opposite side of something solid when they're fired. |
