Well worth the trip. The accompanying movie was a little woke, but the presentation and the painting itself were quite good.

It was interesting to see the evolving focus of the displays from celebrating the union victory, to reframing it as a southern victory (complete with repaintimg rebel prisoners as routing union troops for the "Lost Cause" period. It has been fully restored and, I was told, larger than the Gettysburg cyclorama.

The accompanying museum store was quite a disappointment compared to Gettysburg.

Yep being from Alabama, I have isit Ed the cyclorama several times.
I agree that the Gettysburg souvenir shop is better. However I enjoyed sitting in the Atlanta seating more than the standing at Gettysburg.

The viewing platform is a nice touch. Also, glad they kept the option to view from ground level. I'm not sure I'm all that thrilled with the display at the bottom front.

I was there last week for the first time. The cyclorama itself was great, but the presentation was 'meh' at best. It talked about the history of the painting, without talking about the painting. I would have preferred a good examination of the painting and the obvious vignettes within it. I did like that Clark Gable was put in the diorama when it was created in the 30s, as a dead yankee.

The Civil War gallery of the museum was very impressive, but also more than a bit woke. From what I've heard about Atlanta from my in-laws it's probably not as bad as it could have been.

Heck, even the aquarium, which was awesome, was overly woke.
