Looking for a book (or other source of) of Cold War table-ready wargames scenarios – preferably good for company to battalion-sized micro-armour games. Either that or some kind of rules agnostic points system. My opponents aren't historical wargamers but more 'tabletop miniatures game' players and tend to be a bit confused by an absence of balanced point-based army lists (GW does have a a lot to answer for on occasion). So far the only thing that seems to fit the bill is the long OOP Battle zones by Bruce Rea-Taylor. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thx.

what size force per player?

What rules?

What size table?

'Doctrinal' scenarios are a good start

"The Bear Marches West, 12 Scenarios for 1980s NATO vs Warsaw Pact Wargames" by Russell Phillips (Shilka Publishing 2013) has ready to roll scenarios based on Red Army (Ralph Peters, Team Yankee (Harold Coyle) and Red Storm Rising (Tom Clancy). Readily available link I've got issues with some of the maps.

You could also consider generic scenario books like PDF link – simply substitute cold war units as appropriate.

And I've a fondness for the slightly post Cold War USMC book PDF link

Thanks for the suggestions. I'd forgotten about Grant's books. I have a soft spot for his WWII rules.

The USMC book looks really interesting on a quick flick through. And its at the wargamer's favourite price-point – free! Anyone have any similar recommendations?

I've got a couple of doctrinal documents sitting around occupying space on the hard drive which I need to get around to reading properly.

Have a look at 'First Clash' by K. Macksey, a training book written as a novel for the Canadian Forces. Lots of good all-arms scenarios, from point defence to a running tank battle.

Scenarios from boardgame MBT (both Avalon Hill version and GMT Games version)
fit what you are looking for. Check out both versions at BoardGameGeek.
