If I brush on a coat of Vallejo gloss varnish, wait three days, and then brush on a coat of Vallejo Ultra Matt varnish, will this provide enough protection for my painted 15mm metal wargames figures? In other words, do the Vallejo varnishes provide reasonably durable surface protection for the exigencies of wargaming, as compared with lacquer-based varnishes such as say, Testors or Humbrol? |

That should be plenty. Hopefully your also using a good primer as that is often times more critical to preventing paint wear. |

I don't know, not having tried the technique, but I would certainly expect so. |

I sure hope so. If it doesn't, a lot of gamers are in trouble. |

In over 40 years of figure painting, I have never found it necessary to use varnish. |

I recently started using Warbases Matt Varnish and am very happy with it (The Xtracolor XDFF I previously liked now dries glossy, no matter how mixed/warmed/shaken it was) I don't use gloss as a base, as I find the matt varnish quite a good level of armour! |
