I am now starting on the Osprey book, "Boston 1775: The Shot heard around the world" by Brendan Morrissey. I think this will have more of what I am looking for.

Which "it" is everybody referring to? The original topic of the thread, or the SF hijack?

It depends on how you interpret the meaning of the thread. I understand it to be people posting what they are reading for whatever comments may come their way. I expect a dedicated conversation about X book to be in the page of the specific historical era.
