This was another chance to get some Fall foliage on the table. I also wanted to do a game that required some manuervering decisions and some basic units. I used the delaying action scenario and had the Germans needed to advance across a mostly water logged board to capture the small farmstead on the other side of the creek. To further complicate things, there was an offboad Russian MMG that covered their left flank (up to the higher ground, about 6 to 8 inches in) to prevent any edge-of-the-world gaminess. This meant that the attackers could spent loads of time moving through the muck with a -2 per dice penalty or use the higher ground along the road on their right to advance to the goal. Germans had standard 3 section platoon with an added section and an MMG team Russkies also had an extra section and a Maxim team.
