Today the third city diorama that I discovered in the Trier museums.
It shows the area around the cathedral after the bombing raids at the end of 1944.

Wow! That is impressive.

Magnificent. Huge.

But then let me cast doubts. Is it sanitised? I expected to see, at the very most, that the streets would be impassible with rubble. But no, I see some houses have lost their roofs, into the interior, but some are burnt out and the roof is yet miraculously still supported.

This is perfect for 1946 after the locals have set to work to create the German economic miracle. A bombed city interior does not look like this the next day. But, yes, it is great modelling.

I wronged you there. I went through every image and am now convinced that every burnt out building HAS a collapsed roof (obviously as the timbers are ash). Go that totally wrong!
