More modeling inspiration for the scratch builders and vehicle converters out there! This is an armored truck based upon the standard URAL workhorse. Armor plate has been crudely added to the truck along with an improvised machine gun mount. The bed provides seating for additional infantry. Note that the armor protecting the front of the vehicle wears camouflage paint while the rest of the armor is rusty. Photos here: link |

The first photo shows an improvised APC of the Donetsk militia. The photo dates back to 2014. At that time, a small series of such APCs was manufactured in Donetsk. I have photos of about ten different identical vehicles. These APCs were used in combat during the same period – I saw a video. Including one with a destroyed armored vehicle. I have never seen such APCs used during the current war.
The second photo shows a standard armored vehicle of the Russian National Guard "Federal-42591" based on the "Ural-4320". The truck has an armored booth installed, which can be removed and installed as a stationary firing point at a checkpoint. This truck is also equipped with a set of removable light armor, which can be installed and removed at will. This vehicle is intended for units involved in ensuring the security of logistics and escorting supply columns.
Equipping Russian military equipment with anti-drone devices is now considered mandatory and improvised protection will soon become a thing of the past.

By the way, the driver's cabin of the "Federal-42591" is also fully armored. The vehicle can be used as an "ambush", since when the armored capsule is covered with an awning, this truck is difficult to distinguish from a regular army truck, which gives the column's security some advantages. |
