I finished this M5 half track for the HQ company of the motorised infantry battalion of the British 7th Armoured Division.

I'm quite please with the result. It was a one off sprue from the Plastic Soldier Company I've had for a while. I'd possibly like more but I'll resist – the infantry companies have the alternate of Bedford lorries in place of M5s so I don't really need more.

Thanks for sharing. The molding looks fairly crisp.

Don't forget the A1 bit.

That is a really nice model although I have heard criticism of the excessive relief of detail like hinges, rivets etc. I have been very impressed with couple of "Wargame standard" kits, which just need a bit of work to make them display standard.

It has all the detail changes I would want. The mudguards, the rounded rear corners, the rear bumpers. I think the sliding hatch in the side doors went inside on the M5, but am not sure frankly.

Why not do a couple more without the 50 calibre? I think this is great.

The armoured side extension should be removed from the MG pulpit. It is completely bogus on WWII halftracks – it is what happens when makers of models copy straight from other makers of models instead of doing… RESEARCH !

They're nice kits, Ochoin. I've got the 15mm version.

Well the things you learn. I was always puzzled why my Academy H/T converted to an M5A1 had that curious extension. I could not find it on any Free French H/Ts at the Liberation of Paris, but was reluctant to remove it. Now I know!

My assumption is that Academy copied the feature to their M3A1 kit from the 1/35 scale Tamiya kit, but that was correctly designated "M3A2" – no WWII service. A corresponding M5A2 version was also projected, but again never entered service.

Following on from PSC, I think Victrix are the next to parrot this error.
