This one is set amongst some very unusual scenery. Full AAR at: link

Xenomorph battles are hard.

Love the terrain blocks. Details please.

And thanks for aiming a stream into this ocean.

More topics please.

Diluted waters are not polluted waters. Or whatever Gretta's banging on about these days.

Great photos, should've linked one in the post though: an idea for next time!

Awesome terrain! How long does it take to set out the blocks for your board?

mgk416702 Nov 2024 2:07 p.m. PST

It takes time. Sometimes a very long time. This one took a particularly long time because of the construction of the refinery and the oil tanks. But it all depends on what you value: I really enjoy building terrain as much as I do making models. I have strived to make terrain as realistic as possible whilst allowing a game to be played. I will let others judge whether I have achieved that, but I'm happy!

Great looking scenario. What rules?

Why is it that on most blogs that the blogger goes right into the scenario and AAR but never mentions the rules their using?

Interesting demolition priority problem.

* Breaching charges on the storage drums? Thus denying the Nazi precious fuel today.

OR

* Cutting charges on the fractionating column towers? Thus denying the Nazi future petroleum products.

OR

* Generating fuel-air mix by cutting pipes and then setting it all off, somehow:

Hoping mgk does not take exception (and I will take it down if there is some objection), I thought I might post this so that those who do not find the discussion motivating enough might have further inducement to go check out the blog.

While I've never been a big fan of Chadwick's rules*, I will say that I would not have had one single moment of hesitation if invited to play on such a magnificent battleboard. Quite the production! My hearty congratulations on a game well done.

*Note: I do recognize the value in the approach, but one-to-one unit scale, at least for major vehicles, is what turns my imagination on…

I would have put up the map with the Xenomorph, but that's just me.

I don't think there's issues with just linking to an image, is there?

Downloading and then up loading elsewhere, on the other hand, should have permission.

If the image is already public and your not copying it, is that not ok?

The images above, from what I'm seeing, aren't copies, they are just showing what's at the blogger page that appears to be the original posters images.

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

That is very kind of you Mark. Thank you very much. And merry Christmas. MGK

I must be missing something. Wikipedia says:

Xenomorph (disambiguation)

The Xenomorph (Greek for "a strange form, an alien creature") is the main fictional antagonist in the Alien franchise.

Xenomorph may also refer to:

Xenomorph (geology), a mineral that did not develop its external crystal form
Xenomorph (video game), a 1990 science-fiction role-playing video game
Xenomorph (band), a Dutch death metal band formed in 1994
Xenomorph, a fictional creature on the 1988 television series Something Is Out There
Xenomorphia, a genus of parasitoid wasp

John

I had been thinking about why modular terrain has never caught on big time and about diffrent types. And here is one I had not seen before, terrain based on small scale cubes. A very interesting approach. Having used modular terrain for a long time: I had to dmire the complexity of your system and how you controled/sort through the diffrent types. Do the basic cubes have diffrent terrain on each face? For instance the basic green on one and say a straight road on another and a curve on another. Without that you would have to store an enourmouse number of specialist cubes.

Alas Angel hair is getting hard to find, what are you using as the outline base for your trees, it looks to have potential as an alternative?

Thankyou for an interesting post.
