Slowly getting my large AWI project photographed and shared. I actually did this one out of order, since I painted it the most recently. I like the idea of a Continental regiment wearing captured British uniforms. Found out that Webb's regiment may have done just that, taking uniforms from the prisoners of the British 20th Regiment of Foot. I had a bunch of left over Perry Continental infantry bits, generic enough to use as British. I also painted one stand in other color coats to represent maybe the unit not having quite enough British uniforms to clothe everyone, or uniforms wearing out. For the flag I ended up having to resort to downloading a clip art image of it and then resizing it and cutting it out. I tried to buy the flag but found it only available from the Flag Dude and he only sells flags in person at events now. I paint my historicals mostly with Citadel Contrasts and more recently with the addition of Army Painter Speed Paints as well as Vallejo Xpress Colors. It is a fantastic way to paint large armies effectively and relatively quickly. You won't win any painting contests with transparencies/inks, but for the tabletop the overall effect is aesthetically very effective. Overall I think the regiment came out pretty well.

Americans in red coats is an interesting idea. Did it lead to any friendly fire incidents or confusion for the British? Sorry, got wound up in the whole concept and forgot to mention that they look really great. Grelber |

@Grelber, Thanks, much appreciated! You read my mind, that was the first thing I thought of when reading about the captured uniforms! It would be an interesting thing to research, which I may do when I have some time. I'm trying to remember in my AWI reading over the years if there were any references to friendly fire incidents. I can't recall any. But I would have to imagine it did happen at least a few times, especially with examples like Webb's guys, and also some of the British Loyalists wearing green, things like that… |

There was a notorious friendly fire incident at the battle of Germantown, but that was in fog. |
