I have just started taking interest in Battletech. After struggling for a few weeks to learn the game and the background, I picked up the "newish" Battletech Universe book from Catalyst Game Labs. I have to say it is awesome and very, very useful and helpful to those of us getting a late start in life playing Battletech. I wish I would have started earlier.

Anyhow, I highly recommend the book to anyone getting started in the game of Battletech (whether classic or Alpha Strike) or a grizzed veteran of Battletech.

Having started in the late 80's with Battledroids, my love for Battletech is still with me. I'm not fond of the Clan idea so only do Succession Wars, but there is more than enough in that era to play with. I'll look into this, maybe it'll convince me to give Clan stuff a try.

Same, I started with, and still enjoy 3025.

Yeah 3025 is good!

Thanks.

This book really helped weave all of the eras together in chronological order. For someone who would like to get into it like me, it really helps. I think it will help anyone who has been playing too. Plus, the artwork is inspiring for paint work and terrain ideas.

The way I understand it, after the Clan Invasion, many of the inner spere houses intertwined with Clans and now the cultures and technology are somewhat meshed…

I started with Succession Wars in 1984. It was well supported by the novels since that was the only era. Stopped playing when Clan Wars happened.

I'm still going strong with Succession Wars — now with battalions for the 5 houses and some mercenary companies with Alpha Strike.
