We used to get those big black and yellow ones in my back yard. I used to feed them Japanese beetles. We called them "banana spiders".
Now, I don't see either of them anymore. 😢

I'll send you some banana spiders in the mail, we've got a bunch. I don't mind the spiders themselves, but I truly hate walking through their webs.

Yes. Spiders are the WORST!!

The spiders and I have a treaty. As long as they remain outside I will do my very best not to walk into their webs or otherwise destroy their livelihood. However, if I catch them inside then the violence of action they will experience will be swift, sure and deadly. "Inside" covers my house, office, vehicles, deer blinds and cabins. The treaty does not extend to black widows or brown recluses. It is game on wherever they may be found.

We have plenty in Oz. Outside are left alone; inside catch and release outside. I don't kill them unless they play nasty.

Actually, I am ‘freaked out' by model sailing ships, generally anything larger than Airfix big ship models. And large spiders. My biggest fear is this thing crewed by tarantulas: link

My biggest freak out was the huge Necron thingie. "They want me to paint THAT with $8 USD pots???"

Spiders are cool. They kill mosquitos and flies. I don't mind them.

That being said, I don't want them dropping onto me while I'm sleeping or running around on my bed or being found squished under me when I wake up in the morning, all of which I've experienced.

Walking around the neighborhood yesterday, I noticed that some devilish person tied a red balloon to a sewer grate!
