Looking for some kind advice on a couple of questions regarding Russian infantry uniforms for the 1805-1809 period.

During this period, when did the Russians infantry begin wearing greatcoats across the chest? I note the regulations for this are dated 1809 but the practice seems to have started sometime earlier. Thoughts? I speculate that this was more common in 1807 and less so in 1805.

For the standard bearer, was this task assigned to an NCO or a junior officer?

From my various books on the Russian army, there are numbers of illustrations showing greatcoats worn across the chest in 1808 but only one example in 1807. I can see no illustrations showing this for any earlier date.

Standard bearer (Praporshchik) was a junior officer.
