Has anyone actually placed an Irregular Miniatures 2mm vehicle next to an Oddzial 3mm of the same type and checked the size difference? Ideally a photograph, but I'd settle for a verbal.

Yes, I KNOW 3mm should be half again as long in each dimension as 2mm. But has anyone actually checked it in this case? I ask because I was measuring some of my 2mm tanks and armored cars last night, and they were coming in closer to 1/600 than to 1/900. If Oddzial is an "honest" 1/600, they should be close enough. But If I buy a sample and they're not, I'm painting for the flea market again. I'd like to avoid that if I can.

Vehicles only, please. I already know the infantry are not compatible. Thanks.

Massive difference imo- I compared my Oddzial M1s to the Irregular ones of the same type and there is no comparison really- sorry no photo though.

Thank you EssPee. But "no comparison" in sculpting? Or are they actually different sizes?

Oddzial were digitally scuplted. Irregular were not. I don't think quality wise there is any comparison as Oddzial is excellent.

Thanks.

Thank you. Please note again that I was not asking for an assessment of the quality. I was asking about the relative size.

It seemed like such a straightforward question when I asked it.

i too am interested in knowing which way irregulars vehicles
are sized closer to 1/600 or 1/900
think the words "no comparison" above has thrown it off track a little

Wardog, you asked the same question as Robert back in 2016. I remember trying to find some comparison photos for you back then but couldn't. Looks like nobody else could either. My AFVs are 6mm but Dom Skelton once gave me some OO 3mm WW2 tanks which were very nice. Unfortunately I don't have any Irregular 2mm to compare.

So you just needa measurement of an Pico armor vehicle? Any particular one? I have WWII and Cold War figs. Lots of Germans an US WWII.

Thanks.

Exactly what I need, John! Ideally the length of three commons--a Sherman, a Panzer IV and a SDKFZ 222, say--just because I'm a "measure twice, cut once" sort of guy. But I'd be thrilled with just one. (FYI, an Irregular Sherman hull is 7-8mm long, the "Panzer III/IV" the same and the 4-wheel armored car, nationality not specified, is 8-9mm. Tiny, I'll grant you, but surely a little over 1/900?)

N.B. Nothing I post is intended as a criticism of Irregular, who are friendly, helpful, cheap and ship out quickly by air mail. But no one's line is 100% complete, and I like to know what all the options are.

Ok, the SDKFZ 222 is 8mm long. The Sherman is 9mm long. The Panzer IV is 10mm long to the length of the hull not the gun. All are hull front to back. No guns included in measurement. Hope that helps.

Thanks.

Thank you very much, John! Just the information I needed.

brunanburh
you have some memory
i have no recollection of asking that question before
think my memory is going, blaming it on the old age

Brunanburh03 Nov 2024 11:56 p.m. PST

wardog, not really. I had a vague (but wrong) idea that someone had posted comparison pics a few years back and when I checked I found the TMP thread from January 2016.
