Anything that you feel is not to be missed? Thanks for your suggestions in advance. |

Go see the General! southernmuseum.org And for a different time in history, the Computer Museum of America: link (They have an Apple 1, and several Crays… and a full-size accurate replica of the Eagle Lunar Lander!) I enjoyed both immensely. On my list is the Kennesaw Mountain Battlefield; I drove through it on a Saturday, but on Saturdays the park is packed— there was no place to park. So I never got to walk it. (Maybe in the future…) Other things of interest: If you're driving in from the north down I-75, obey the billboards and stop in Calhoun at Buc-Ee's! The BBQ sandwiches are awesome. And if you're in downtown Atlanta near Georgia Tech, you must visit The Varsity for a hot dog (and of course a Coke). "Wutullyahav?" (Answer quickly…) |

And don't forget the Battle of Atlanta cyclorama at the Atlanta History Center. link I saw it back in 1973 and it still has left an impression. Jim |

Go to Bones Restaurant and get the Bone-in Filet … the Kansas City cut if they have it as a special. You can usually get a seat at the bar which is first come first served. My favorite steakhouse in the US … and the Old Fashioneds are also excellent. |

Go to the Vortex Restuarant in little 5 points for a fun and quirky time and get a burger. |

Kennesaw is the best battlefield to walk. Downtown, there is Cyclorama with Civil War Museum. Other historically significant things to do include the Carter Presidential Library, the Margaret Mitchell House, and The Atlanta Historical Society (exhibits and grounds). Stone Mountain Park has lots of family oriented attractions. If you want some exercise, there is a 1.3 mile walking trail up the back side of Stone Mountain, and you can ride the cable car down. Other touristy options include the World of Coca-Cola and the Georgia Aquarium downtown. I would endorse a visit to the Varsity, but would also recommend Mary Mac's Tea Room on Ponce near the Fox Theatre and Peachtree. From there, its also not too far to Little Five Points for food, drink and Atlanta's version of boho culture. Buckhead used to be the place to go, but its a little overdeveloped for me these days. |
