The bands are playing, the flags are flying, and the tanks are rolling, in the grand parade. The banana chip and bongo bar sales off the scales! New building "artwork" is prominently displayed in the urban area known as "Funkytown". Wonderful celebrations are occurring throughout the nation today as the people of the beloved country are celebrating their Day of National Independence. The National Govt. released a press statement this morning: "This day of days, each year is when we allow you to celebrate the freedoms of your national independence. When our people stroked off the yoke of their colonial oppressors and became an independent nation. Remember our ancestors and those members of our people who fought for this day for so long! Our beloved leader, President-For-Life P'hat Daddee B'wonah, gives his smiles and ever loving warmth and appreciation to all the people of Bongolesia for what they have been put through. So much good is coming to this land for all. Enjoy the day! Be safe and remember that "Every fifth round is a tracer…." Happy National Independence Day! |

The Bongolesian Department of Public Safety reminds the public once again to fire celebratory small arms into the air and not at public buildings and the Presidential Palace. |

It's only "inappropriate" if you think that Idi Amin Dada and Emperor Bokassa are immune from ridicule. |

I'm with the OFM on this one. Cold truth is, President-For-Life P'hat Daddee B'wonah can't even be called a satire. Some of the people who have ruled states within my memory have exceeded him. Just as an example, he isn't even "hereditary absolute" President for life. |
