That is a great story that deserves more publicity. The postcard photo of the original bridge shows the challenging terrain so well. It is hard to imagine how the bridge was even constructed, let alone destroyed, when so heavily guarded.

Is it not strange that the Axis forces were so less inclined to such "irregular" warfare and "special ops"? I will make an exception for Skorzeny and the Brandenburgers, or the Italian chariots and MTBs.
