Why would I do that?

We do have a games venue that sells a few bits but only fantasy and the tables are only 6ft by 4ft and only have large scale fantasy type scenery available. We play at the local club and currently its cheaper.

I do play at my local FLGS, Imperial Outpost Games in Glendale, AZ, but prefer to assemble and paint my miniatures at home.

What I have seen is small groups (sometimes only 2) of like minded individuals sitting down and kibitzing with each other while assembling models/miniatures.

Mine has painting times – mostly warhamer – but a few historical as well – where for a small fee – paints etc are all free use

I've never even seen a hobby store with resources to "hobby" as described above. Plenty have gaming tables and some random terrain to use, but nothing available along the lines of crafting. Until recently… Less than a year ago, I discovered a Warhammer store in my local shopping center. It's on the back side of an island full of stores kind of tucked away on a side I never visited. Who knows how long it has been there. I hadn't seen one of these stores in over 20 years so of course I had to stop and investigate. I was greeted by the manager who kindly asked me what interests I had. I was thinking of saying Warhammer Historicals, but kept my mouth shut. He showed me the various current lines of GW stuff, offered to let me paint a free sample miniature in the store and we eventually settled on playing one of the skirmish games with me for about 30 minutes. This guy truly loved his job. Unfortunately, I don't have much interest in high fantasy type games… my definition of this includes pretty much everything in the store. So, ultimately little interest in these games, but I bought several paints to support the place before I left.

When we were setting up our latest Campaign in a Day event at The Portal, in Manchester, CT, I saw several groups of guys doing just that. They have a tremendous amount of gaming space at that store!
