Early stages of a 76mm armed Jumbo. Otherwise very like Cobra King. Different make of turret however.

I only did it to see what could I make of the Italeri wargames standard model. As it comes, it has some great turret and engine cover detail. OK, drill out the lift rings, add a bit more armour thickness, some Edouard detail fittings, OKB tracks, a 30 calibre instead of the 50, tow cable etc etc…..and a pretty good model appears

and now it is painted and based on snow, as was the Jumbo 75. The markings actually belong on a 75mm. The uparmed Jumbos carried no national markings at all late in the war, as far as I can see. I cheated. The two crew men are of course AB and prove to be as good as folk have been saying here for very long time!

Thanks for that. I had such a massive spares box for 1/72 scale Shermans and this Italeri Wargames model did seem to have great potential. All it needed was removal of much simplified detail and replacement. The gun cradle, the tow cable, the tracks with extensions, rear lights and guards, periscope guards, turret spotlight, 76mm gun, upturned return rollers and so on.
