Head into any $16 USD salad place, and you'll probably be given your choice of various ancient grains and superfoods to sprinkle on top of your marked-up spring greens.

Now, there's an argument to be made that some of these ancient foods deserved to stay obsolete. Whatever chia seeds are doing for you, it can't possibly be worth their magnetic attraction to your gumline. I think, if we want to start eating and drinking like warriors of yore, we should go ahead and fully send it…"

Also a Thai dish called "waterfall pork" because they pour the blood into the soup like water falling into a pool.

It's actually pretty good in the middle of a hot night of drinking and clubbing in Bangkok.

It is interesting that we mostly seem keen on removing blood from modern food [sometimes to the point of religious prohibition] when it was long regarded as something specially good. It is certainly of high nutritional value. I've forgotten the number of hotel 'Full English' breakfasts I've had to eat without a slice of black pudding and I long ago gave up asking if it isn't out.
