Looking for early dogs (dingos, Asian, Inuit or native american dogs) in 28mm, preferably without harnesses or leashes. Do manufacturers sell them separately, without their handlers and other parts of the usual vignettes? |

Eureka does a generic small dog. Every line needs dogs. |
Cpt Arexu | 14 Nov 2005 3:56 p.m. PST |
I don't know what early dogs look like, but you might look at the bag of 100 plastic zombie dogs: they are cheap and plentiful (it is a bag of 100!), They are plastic and easy to modify, they fit with 28mm figures, and you can paint them to match whatever you feel is the appropriate fur colors for your dog breeds. |

GW made a blister of hounds or wardogs or something like that, for Mordheim, I think, but I couldn't find it on their online store to post a link. I have some; as I recall they have spiked collars, so probably not what you want exactly. |

Doesn't Copplestone Castings do polar explorers with dog teams? |
Farstar | 14 Nov 2005 5:04 p.m. PST |
Copplestone also have a scots terrier in one set. I'm still waiting for a good 28mm Basset, myself
|
Skeptic | 14 Nov 2005 5:09 p.m. PST |
Copplestone sell an unharnessed husky in this pack: picture If you ask them nicely, they might even sell some separately. That's how I got a couple of dogs for conversion into mastiffs. Cheers, Skeptic

Thanks for all the pointers and suggestions: Copplestone's C22 pack has 4 Inuit hunters with rifles and a single dog (without harness). In all his other packs the dogs have sled harnesses. I wonder if I could get Mark to sell me 5 of the dog in C22: link Each one of these Pulp Figure packs seems to have good generic dogs without harnesses. I wonder if these dogs can be purchased separately: link This Eureka dog might even work (I don't see a harness): link |

I wonder why no one has yet come up with a (literal) pack of wild dogs (not wolves), like 6 different poses and sizes, for 28mm? |
Farstar | 14 Nov 2005 5:33 p.m. PST |
Sort of like the Horse blanks that were shown here last week (or so)? That'd be cool. |

Dixon has a pack of Indian Dogs in their Wild West line, code DG-1. There are two dogs in the pack, one trotting and the other lieing down; small short-haired curs, barely over half an inch long. In Old Glory WP-9 Plains Indian Villagers are two big dogs, two copies of the same pose, lieing down. These are huge, plump, shaggy dogs, fully as big as one of the seated men from the same pack. Sculpting looks crude to me and not especially canine. These mutts could be dogs, or sheep, or monitor lizards, depending on how they're painted. Back in the day, Ral Partha made a hunting dog, with spiked collar and pointed ears, and a wolf, both very good sculpts in true 25mm scale. The wolf is small for 28mm, but could easily be a wolf-dog. I filed the collar off a couple of the dogs easily enough, but they still look like pure-breds, not primitive dogs at all. Wolves and dogs should be available from Iron Wind Miniatures. Sorry I dunno the code numbers. |

I can recomend the Eureka German Shepard, it's a nice little dog that just looks like a normal dog not a weird giant thing with spike collars etc like GW makes. I think Pulp makes a Bulldog in one of their packs which is quite cute. |

I am still looking for the 1000 dog Toy Poodle pack. Saw a rat pack on a 5" circle that was rats on the outside and backs and tails from the top. Looking for the same thing but very small dogs. Either they eat you little bites at a time or lick you to death. TankGuy |

Vendel has some Mastiffs, Foundry made some dogs and Gripping Beast has Irish Wolfhounds. |
Lowtardog | 15 Nov 2005 2:48 a.m. PST |
Yep, The Vendel Mastifffs are excellent, one pack comes without any collars. I would also second the GB Wolf hounds as well. For Dobermans the LOTR ones are nice but very small 25mm like their other figures. Amazon and Outpost wargames both have Blood hounds in their Border Reiver ranges |

David McBride's Splintered Light Minis will "soon" have a couple of 18mm wolfhounds (for halflings to ride) that do well as smaller breeds in 28mm. |
Area23 | 15 Nov 2005 6:29 a.m. PST |
-Both Warzone and Chronopia by Exelsior have warhounds. -Both Megaminis and Grenadier.it have the old Grenadier wolves, very small and could pass as wolfhounds or shepards. -Foundry and Gripping beast for Irish wolfhounds -Mirliton has some dogs -Vendel Mastiffs -Reaper has a few as familiars and just released some 'dire hounds', iirc. -I think Westwind has some in their Gothic horror line. -Ironwind/ralpartha have some doberman like wardogs. |

I found these on Steve Barber miniatures, Im not an archeologist and they mat be marsupials but would pass for dingoes in a bad light Thylacinus (pack of 4) in their prehistoric animals range link |

The bag of zombie dogs is from Twilight Creations – they were made to go with the ZOMBIES 4 expansion to their ZOMBIES board game. Here's their link, link I found the bag o'zombie dogs at a local hobby store (Great Hall Games), along with the various board games and the regular zombies and the glow-in-the-dark zombies. |

Thread necromancy in the service of zombies seems worthwhile. I'm looking for guard dogs survivor squads can use against the plastic zombies. The plastic zombie figs are 1/72, and I'm using zombie hunters on the larger side of 20mm. The plastic zombie dogs are pretty big. Slightly rearing up they stand about 10mm at the rear haunch and 13mm at the front shoulder, and 22mm long with a bent tail. I don't mind my guard dogs being large for 20mm, but I don't want to get any bigger than the plastic zombie dogs. A bit smaller is OK. 10-12mm at the shoulder would be ideal. Bonus points if I can get an assortment of types. Anyone know which dogs fit this size? |

Redoubt have a little terrier lifting it's leg. It's in the Body's Bits section. |
miniMo | 30 Aug 2006 9:26 p.m. PST |
*in high-pitched John Cleese voice* "A little terrier lifting it's leg? I suppose that might make the zombies smell worse, but I can scarcely imagine such an encounter would hold the hordes of the living dead at bay, now would it? Not quite like a fierce guard dog lunging up and biting their throats, perhaps ripping their 'eads clean off, eh? That's rather more the trusty canine companion I had in mind to take along when our neighborhood watch goes out hunting the shambling dead who walk." So far the best contender for actual guard dogs is this plastic set by Revell: link |

@ miniMo Don't know about you but I wouldn't want to be ed upon even if it was only a terrier doing the job! |
