"Without doubt, the French Revolution of 1789 was a momentous occasion in history. After all, it was an uprising that brought down a European monarchy. But how much of what we know about the French Revolution is actually true, and how much is myth and exaggeration? Four "myths" very briefly covered. Even if they had suggested further reading there might have been some point to this site. Very poor for a BBC product. Seems aimed at schoolkids, but that is even less excuse. |

"Let them eat brioche!" Yep, that'll do it! LOL |

BBC Bitesize is indeed aimed at school children. It's intended as a revision aide hence the brief ‘expanded bullet-point' style! |

Nothing wrong with introducing us to a topic we might have missed, but which is then criticised. That is the whole point of such a discussion. This is very poor and superficial for something from the BBC, schoolkids or not. |

To back up Cerdic "BBC Bitesize is a free online resource that helps students with their learning, revision, and homework: Curriculum-relevant: Guides are written by teachers and subject experts and are mapped to follow the UK curriculum So if you want to apportion blame maybe the national curriculum would be a better target. Also material is for 3- 18 year olds and while I can't place this exactly it isn't in GCSE revision so I'm estimating it's aimed at 12-14 year olds |
