I'm starting a new project around the battle of Jutland. I'll collect & paint battlecruisers from both sides (Hipper and Beatty) and also the 4 dreadnoughts of Evan-Thomas' 5th Battle Squadron. The 1st 3 Hochseeflotte battlecruisers are done. 1st German battlecruiser built was the Von der Tann.
Then 2 were built, Moltke & Goeben, essentially an enlarged verrsionwith increased firepower (a supplementary superfiring 11' turret aft)
They were followed by Seydlitz, same armament, but an enlarged version with better armour.
A last pic, to show the evolution of the first 3 German battlecruisers, built between 1907 & 1912

All threeare GHQ models. I'd also wish to give a word of thanks to GHQ, and say why I am so pleased with their products. First, they strive to maintain a relation with their clients. Nice to see that card tucked in their latest package.
Now, I'll grant you their production is not cheap, and you'll easily find on the internet less expensive models, especially 3D printed ones or the files to print them. In their time, I have also bought models I still prefered GHQ models which seem more lifelike. And that's where the human factor comes into play : GHQ human artists biggen some details in their models, & perhaps lessen others, using their judgement to give the model this more lifelike appearance. That's not that easy for me to explain, suffice to say the result is tremendous ! Of course, you'll have to build them, that's not that easy as some Micronauts parts are really, really tiny but with the passage of time, skills increase and make the process a lot easier. On the other hand, painting them is a real pleasure as details are clearly visible and al you have to do is keep from trespassing. To sum it up, their prices are high, but quality is even higher, giving in the end an excellent quality/price ratio. Well worth the try. |

Foxbat, beautifully done ships. I know the models themselves are works of art but you really did them justice and they look incredible. Also like the bases. |
