I've been toying with the idea of expanding my baroque collection of WSS miniatures. Many European armies started the War of the Spanish Succession dressed and equipped similarly to how they appeared in the later War of the League of Augsburg. Some cocked hats (tricornes) were formal, some were still informal. Many of the major players were still in power, like King Louis XIV, King William III and Emperor Leopold I.

It seems that Khurasan Miniatures recognizes this overlap, and are now providing some interesting possibilities. If you look at the Khurasan website, you will now find among the figures of the Late 17th Century range, "Very Late 17th Century French" musketeers charging, and also French infantry command figures of the same period. The French infantry are pictured charging using socket bayonets but they wear the informal tricorne of the Late 17th century. The command has similar headgear and look determined to lead the "Furia Francese" charge.

Khurasan miniatures from this range are generally compatible with 15mm ranges like Minifigs and Irregular. Some time ago I put out a size comparison.

After corresponding with Khurassan I understand that more 1690s period infantry will be manufactured and will be out next. I am looking forward to these, as I plan to use LOA and WSS miniatures together when appropriate.

Cheers!

Nice looking figures, especially the winged hussars.
