Mass is 62% independents, highest in the nation. Don't care about either party, not as liberal as some people think. Urban myth… |

Wasn't 1984 the last time they voted state wide for a Republican President? U.S. Senate None Both of Massachusetts's U.S. Senate seats have been held by Democrats since 2013. Scott Brown was the last Republican to represent Massachusetts in the U.S. Senate. First elected in the 2010 special election, Brown lost his bid for a full term in 2012 to Elizabeth Warren who has held the seat since. Edward Brooke was the last Republican to be elected to a full term in Massachusetts. First elected in 1966, Brooke lost his bid for a third term in 1978 to Paul Tsongas. U.S. House of Representatives None Massachusetts' U.S. House delegation has made been entirely Democratic since 1997. The last Republicans to serve Massachusetts in the House of Representatives were Peter I. Blute and Peter G. Torkildsen. Both were elected in 1992 and subsequently defeated in the 1996 elections. Those independents must not vote, change on Election Day or are in hiding too. 😉 |

I think you were talking about Vuhledar, right? |
Cuprum2 | 01 Oct 2024 6:26 p.m. PST |
The pro from dover, yes. These are the peculiarities of the different spellings of the city's name in different languages. |

Incorrect. I have spelled it the Ukrainian way. Part of Putin's attempt to russify the country and destroy Ukrainian culture. But you knew that didn't you? After holding 31 months the Ukrainian town of Vuhledar and fending off three Russian offensives, Ukrainian forces withdraw from the embattled and totally destroyed settlement. During those more than 2 years, Russia lost thousands of troops and vehicles for the 3.5 square kilometer (1.4 square mile) large settlement, paling even the costly battles of Bakhmut and Avdiivka. Speaking of casualties the Russian 155th Naval Infantry Brigade losing 150 of their vehicles here during "The largest tank battle of the war"…..it was just them rolling into a minefield repeatedly. |

35thOVI, I am curious that you are obsessed I am from Massachusetts? |
35thOVI | 02 Oct 2024 4:04 a.m. PST |
Pro, I never responded to you personally. I responded to corrective action saying he was a Republican from Massachusetts and my last was throwing some humor at Tort about independents in Massachusetts. I didn't even know you were from Massachusetts. Actually thought you were from England. |
Tortorella | 02 Oct 2024 5:14 a.m. PST |
You forget Mass regularly elects Republican governors, 35th. And it works. But no comment on the current admin. |
35thOVI | 02 Oct 2024 5:40 a.m. PST |
Tort 😂 But you are voting Republican. Even though you "see dead people." 😉 |
machinehead | 02 Oct 2024 6:20 a.m. PST |
I am from Massachusetts. I am registered as an Independant. I have voted Republican 4 times, Democratic 6 times and sat out once (Bush – Gore). I will be voting Democratic this time around. So yeah us Independants do actually vote. |
35thOVI | 02 Oct 2024 7:57 a.m. PST |
Ahh but are you voting Democratic for President and Congress? If so, you are no longer an Independent. If you are voting Republican, you are no longer an independent. I disregard local and state, as it does not affect all of us. Tort, if he indeed votes for Eisenhower, is an independent. As a dead man, has no party. I had no doubt that most "independents" vote. But in Massachusetts, it seems in National elections, most vote for Democrats. That was my only point. 😉 Curious if you don't mind, what are your two main reasons for voting for Harris? Feel free not to answer. |
Tortorella | 02 Oct 2024 8:05 a.m. PST |
Yes, I often vote Republican, especially when a candidate can at least see the middle and is pragmatic enough to do the work. I feel Ike can still serve despite his age and maybe some health issues. The Constitution does not specially state that the President must be alive.
I am weighing competence and temperament in leadership this time, lean Dem, not happy though. If the independents had a legitimate third party to join, I think they would. The two parties are worn out shells. We are independents even if we vote for one of them. I just look at the candidates individually. |

"I feel Ike can still serve despite his age and maybe some health issues. The Constitution does not specially state that the President must be alive." In some cases, just breathing seems to be enough. 😉 |
Tortorella | 02 Oct 2024 8:16 a.m. PST |
Yes, some Presidents may not actually have been alive while serving. Maybe Wilson. So the concept is not new. |

After holding 31 months the Ukrainian town of Vuhledar and fending off three Russian offensives, Ukrainian forces withdraw from the embattled and totally destroyed settlement. Yes as we know sometimes it may be too costly to hold a certain location. And if possible, it may be abandoned by a making a tactical withdrawal, etc. Living to fight another day … I am registered as an Independant. I have voted Republican 4 times, Democratic 6 times and sat out once (Bush – Gore). I will be voting Democratic this time around. So yeah us Independants do actually vote. I actually voted for Ross Perot back then, and I'm a GOP guy. But that is the beauty of our system. One can vote for anyone they want, even including a write-in. E.g. I have heard one someone wrote in Jesus for POTUS. If you vote Dem this time and I vote GOP … our votes will cancel each other out ! 😎 So the concept is not new If I say what I am thinking … I will surely be sent to "the Cooler" …🤩⚾🏍 |

Legion I worked for Perot for 2 plus years. I did not like that man at all. We used to joke that when he walked into the company cafeteria in Dallas, he needed to bring a ladder to get into his chair. I have no good memories of him at all. But I have a personally signed book he gave to all of us who graduated from his SED school, that he based his management style off of: "Tough Minded Management". Want to buy it? 🙂 |

I switched to the GOP back when a certain President was selling sleepovers in the Lincoln Bedroom. A cover of the National Enquirer enraged me. 🤬 These days, I am flabbergasted at those who call Old Time GOP, like Romney, RINOS. I guess I need a new home. 🤷 I got some thinking to do come November. |
Gray Bear | 03 Oct 2024 1:14 a.m. PST |
You do need a new home. The party has changed dramatically since Romney was the GOP presidential candidate. |
35thOVI | 03 Oct 2024 5:35 a.m. PST |
You think the GOP has changed, how much more so the other party since back then. Makes that President seem like a centrist(which he became, after he finally shuttled his wife out of the picture). 😉 |
