Would You Advise Someone to See Napoleon?

63% said "no, I would not"
14% said "yes, I would"

Literally planned to buy it 'cheap' and play on a circuit with 'Waterloo', 'Sharpe Series' and whatever other war films I play in the background while painting Napoleonic figs. Sets the mood no matter how ridiculous it was.

Wish they would have just remade 'Sharpe's Eagle' with our boy Bean and a much bigger budget. Fairly true to the book with the nemesis Gibbons well fleshed out.

What an awesome movie that would be….

You could always advise them to watch the dozens of other Napoleonic Era major feature films of the past 50 years…….

I take it the 14% are exclusively fantasy and science fiction gamers?

My take is its pretty to watch but so bad you need to see it

Recommend it to a friend as a really bad film that gets everything wrong.

Not everything wrong. The uniforms are really good. For me the disappointment is summed up by a still of Napoleon standing in front of the eagle party of a Guard grenadier battalion. There are all three of the porte-aigles with the correct uniform details and post-1812 flag and even the correct pennants on the escorts' halberds. All that wonderful research wasted! So frustrating!

Well, I know people who are not wargamers or military enthusiasts and they really liked it. LOL

As I told my wife as we were leaving the theater…

"Well, if you knew next to nothing about Napoleon before seeing the movie, you still know next to nothing about Napoleon now."

Such a waste of money and resources. Sad.

I thought they got most of the flags wrong. The French had way too many flags.
