Ever since we played the Road to Bremen campaign for Chain of Command back in 2018 I've been wanting to have another crack at creating the final map – the ruined city itself (or a small part of it at least!). I finally had the chance this weekend as I've been taking a new player through the campaign and we've now reached that particular map.

While I've had many of the buildings since I made the original table I didn't have a suitable mat nor did I give enough thought to rubble. If there is a single lesson from this, it's how well a bit of scattered rubble manages to tie a table together. The majority of buildings are scratch built using foam core and as usual for me this is in 20mm.

Awesome tabletop!!!

My question is if the mat is homemade using gray carpet or thin gray fleece with some nice dry-brushing, or -- if neither of those -- then… what is it?

You are right. The rubble really helps. I'd like to see a bit more of it.

Looks great, but, unless someone has carted it off, there should be a lot more rubble.

Excellent table. I nice balance of a model of a ruined built-up area while still usable for gaming.

Even in the worst cases seems paths got cleared quickly otherwise nothing could move. No doubt those paths might have gotten narrow after another bombing

Form follows function 😉

You are close. It's brown fleece that's been painted (a mix of rattle can spray and brushing). It had been made into a desert/arid terrain map originally and I just repainted use a similar colour palette to the buildings.

That would work for most cities in Eastern Europe.

For Warsaw you would need more ruin dunes and less standing walls.

Eccellent job, as always from TacticalPainter.
