A couple of months ago I made an order for 3D printed models for the first time from the Plastic Soldier Company (PSC). Amongst the order were two Schwimmwagens and a Wirbeiwind, all in 20mm scale. I was delighted with the models when they arrived; crisp moulding and excellent detail. They were stored for a month in a plastic box and then I got then out to start painting them. However, overnight, the Wirbelwind hull started to exude what I can only describe as a gray goo not unlike plastic filler. Also all the flat surfaces were bowing out as though under pressure from within. Then the underside of the hull split. Overall, the plastic felt softer and more pliable. In contrast, the Schwimmwagens seem fine. Has anyone else encountered this problem? They were in a cool place and not in direct sunlight. I have enquired of PSC if they have an explanation but as yet no reply. I have never had a problem with PSC models before but I am a bit concerned as I have another 3D print order on the way and I do not want to have the same problem. |

Likely should have had drain holes on the bottom for uncured resin. That's resin and you don't want to touch it. You can drain it then wash in Isopropyl alcohol. They messed up. Thanks.

It sounds like they had open spaces inside, which had no drain holes. Over time the uncured resin off gasses and expands, creating the splits. This is a 'they' problem, and they should replace the model for you. You have resin by making models hollow. But you HAVE to make a drain hole, not only for the resin to drain out, but so if some is left inside, and off gases, it can get out. I always make at least two drain hoes, and then use a syringe to pump IPA in one, and let it drain out the other hole. The other way to deal with this is to do the printing your self, and amass a massive army! |

I understand that this has been a problem with early stuff, they have sorted it now and should send you replacements. The last stuff I got all had holes in the right places to prevent this, Tally Ho! |

Sounds like the part of the horror movie before they show the film's title. Instead of typing, you and your family should be fleeing your house, screaming in terror! I'm sure the film version will feature miniature goblins or orcs cast in green resin shrieking and chasing after you, instead of the more mundane Wirbelwinds. Grelber Seriously, best of luck with this--I've never heard of such a thing. |

Some have also said about resin models from Battlefront , that they have felt tacky to the touch could be uncured , or they tried a different mix for the resin . |

Well, PSC came through and replaced the faulty model. Indeed they replaced the whole order and added in some bonus figures. The new Wirbelwind seems solid so no gapping problems while the figures seems to be a new venture in 20mm figures. They look like up-sized 15mm Americans and Germans. Nice looking too. Well done PSC. Good customer service. |
