The SA Valour & Fortitude 15mm Napoleonic gaming group met up at Dtagon's Lair – Medical Center to play another afternoon battle using V&F rules. We all just found out that an updated version of the rules are now available from the Perry Miniatures for free download.

We had planned to re-fight the Battle of Eckmuhl but one of the key players (and Austrians) could not attend, so we played a pickup game of French vs Prussians 1813. The French (Rick Ashby and Charles Torok) against the Prussians (Grant Johnson and Robert Williams). The Prussians took the opening move and deployed forward, setting up their artillery and moving their cavalry towards the French right flank. THe French also advanced massing in the center for an attack.

The first three turns were spent manuevering and artillery bombardment, the Prussian cavalry continued to turn the French flank. The French assaulted the center Prussian brigade and after 2-3 turns of melee were able to break the center – alas for the French the Prussian cavalry arrived and the heavy dragoons ended the assualt and defeated the four battalions of the center French brigade..
Meanwhile the two brigades on the French left finally started to move – between woods and failed activation tests they had fallen two turns behind the French center. The Prussian brigade put up some very tough musketry and artillery fire – although Field Marshal Bob's dice were not cooperating. After two to three turns of melee the Prussians were starting to recoil.

By this point in the battle the French were up 4-1 victory points and held the field, the Prussians, using their cavalry advantage, were able to leave the field in good orer.
