Hey, our local group tried out RFR today and we enjoyed it but unless we are missing something, we could not find any place where infantry can attempt to close assault tanks.

Now I know they can fire panzerfausts and bazookas at them but we were playing 1941 Russian front and neither of those weapons systems were available yet.

A couple players wanted to try and rush a tank, up close and personal to damage it.

Can it even be done?

The previous version of the rules did have a provision for AT grenades. Think the grenade rules were a hold over from Rapid Fires original skirmish level. Rapid Fire Reloaded has done away with grenades as too "tactical" and I agree with the change. Remember you are not close assaulting a tank but rather a unit of 5 tanks.

To partially balance this out tanks may not close to closer than 6 inches to enemy infantry without supporting infantry being within 6 inches of the tanks.

So in answer, currently, infantry can not close assault tanks.

No close assault on tanks. There are anti-tank rifles for that period. Not very effective on heavier tanks, but other than anti-tank guns the best you can do.

Thanks guys!

Personally I don't mind but a couple of players were not happy they could not charge tanks.

I pointed out about tank fright that often did happen and also not every poor grunt was as gung ho as our wargamers about hurling themselves at the enemy.
