Another unit finished for my 1809 Bohemia Project. Nothing gives me a headache more than researching and painting Napoleonic uniforms and these Garde-Jager and their greatcoats were no exception.

These look fantastic! I have to say I'm a little skeptical of green greatcoats for enlisted troops of any nation, but if anybody would have issued them it would be "The Merry Monarch". He probably saw the Garde-Jaeger as the gamekeepers of his private estates.

Thanks chaps.

Eumelus@ yes that's why I was pretty excited to find a source saying Garde-jager had green ones. Interestingly in WESTPHALIAN GUARD OF THE NAPOLEONIC WARS by Dr S.Summerfield although he sites grey for the Garde-Jager he does say the Westphalian guard chevauleger did have green greatcoats.

Peter Bund and Markus Gärtner in their epic and in my view state of the art study of the Westphalian Army – come to the conclusion of light grey greatcoats, also in case looking at Sauerweid plates you see the great coat rolls on the back back being grey. Officers could have however green Überrock and redingotes (a bit like for the blue of the French officers great coats) – As for Guard Chevaulegers cloaks, they state of being white.
