This sword was found in part of a barracks.

If they keep digging, they may find a floor buffer. You can't have a barracks without one.

Interesting

Interesting that such a fine weapon should be found forgotten in a barracks— I would surmise that Things Did Not Go Well for the owner and the garrison at some point— surely this blade would have been claimed and taken elsewhere otherwise!

(Either that, or there was a rules edition upgrade, and the Rameses II blades became "last year's model"— :-P )

Parzival, that abandoned sword was Bronze. Maybe they upgraded to Iron, so it definitely was last year's model which they could not give away, for free, because all of the Cool Kids had Iron Swords…

Or, to be only mildly more serious, perhaps it was abandoned because Ramses II had died, and his replacement was trying to erase all evidence of his predecessor? It's been done before, in Egypt…

ROFL! I'll see myself out. Thank you. Cheers!

I'm going with— It's a cursed sword, -1!
The excavators are gonna find themselves in world of trouble the next time they get in a melee with an angry mummy!
(Clearly the DM of that campaign is a "gotcha" type.)

Percival maybe. Or at least the new ruler dropped that outpost in the military budget.

And all of the old Egyptian NCOs sat around and complained about how Ouposts BFE 147 and BFE 149 were combined with BFE 148, and the army just isn't like it used to be.
