I was watching ‘Fury' again recently and, for all its faults, I still think it is a great film. It got me wondering if anyone had ‘fought' the various scenarios portrayed. Bolt Action did a mini-campaign for ‘Saving Private Ryan' which, for all its weaknesses was fun to try. Could something similar be done for ‘Fury'? As I see it there are five main scenarios:
1. Ambush by the Hitler Youth.
2. Relief of the trapped platoon and attack on the woods.
3. Advance into the town.
4. Ambush by the Tiger.
5. Fight with the Waffen SS at the crossroads.
Now I know that from a purely military point of view some of the fights do not make sense. If four Hitler Youth with a Panzerfaust can take out a fully operational Sherman moving as part of a platoon while a complete battalion of the Waffen SS could not take out a single, isolated and disabled Sherman without massive casualties. And what was the Tiger commander thinking? (Rate him novice?) Whatever your thoughts, something can be created I would have thought.
1. This scenario does not lend itself too well but I am sure that the more imaginative players could work something out. The others are more straightforward and I have some ideas.
2. Two US platoons and four Shermans against a reinforced German Heer platoon and two PAK 40s in the tree line.
3. Same US force against mixed Germans up to two platoons spread through a small town.
4. Four Shermans against a single Waffen SS Tiger in a large open space between two tree lines with the engagement started by the Tiger firing on the US tanks as they move along a road. (Use Achtung Panzer! Rules?)
5. Waffen SS infantry against an immobile Sherman at a crossroads with thick hedgerow lined roads. The Waffen SS force should be ‘inexhaustible' with casualties being replaced a number of times and the US crew given the option to dismount.
What do people think?

It's a great scenario, read somewhere something similar happened so why not?

Whirlwind, thanks for the pointer to WSS. I missed that. I must chase it up.
