I need a set for Marty Robbins in El Paso. I'm working on Wicked Felina. 😄 Yes! One can make a game out of it! |
John the OFM | 09 Sep 2024 10:16 p.m. PST |
I did Google "Wicked Felina" and apparently you can rent a yacht by that name. 🤷 Who knew? There are also some naughty results. But I'm looking for a 28mm Mexican dancer. |

FWIW, "Rosa's Cantina" isn't much of a place. It's in a dive area in a slummy area off of Doniphan in El Paso. Yes I've been there…. |
John the OFM | 09 Sep 2024 10:47 p.m. PST |
Which is irrelevant for the song and game of course. Sarissa has a Cantina. And I already have a very nice village I picked up at a SYW convention. It'll be a simple game. Marty has to get from the far end of the table to the end by the fridge. Everyone gets a shot at it, and when they aren't Marty, they're Mounted Cowboys. Like an Olympic javelin throw, whoever gets closest to Rosa's before a bullet tears through his chest wins. 🙄🤷 Remember that the posse isn't after for killing the handsome young cowboy. It's Texas, after all. No. He stole a horse! |

The "bound" 🤷 comes to an end when Felina sadly kisses him goodbye. As thevGM, I will be Felina, of course. |

Hey John, Try Boot Hill miniatures through Brigade Games. You can probably get all three minis from there. They have a Mariachi band that has a dancing girl in the set. This line has minis riding and on foot. There are dean Texians in the line, as well. link |

Thank you. That's a fine Felina. |

If you want to see the decline of American culture, go from "El Paso" to "Come a Little Bit Closer" to "Margaritaville." |

Okay. I had a bit to think about this. In "El Paso" a drunken cowboy murders a dashing young cowboy who he sees flirting with a B-girl. In Margaritaville, a wasted drunk evolved from blaming everyone but himself for his behavior, but in the last verse admits "Some people claim there's a woman to blame, but I know, it's my own damn fault." Frankly I see a progression here. |
doc mcb | 10 Sep 2024 10:35 a.m. PST |
and in between the coward runs away. No, its a regression, from manly courage to nihilistic despair. |
John the OFM | 10 Sep 2024 12:02 p.m. PST |
Have it your way, "professor". 🙄 Thanks for hijacking a simple request for figure suggestions into a moralistic fist pounding. No point in continuing this "conversation". As usual, you are always right. How silly of me. Age quod agis. |
doc mcb | 10 Sep 2024 12:22 p.m. PST |
John, for pity's sake, lighten up! Must I always agree with you, or is it okay to indulge in silliness in a light hearted way? The topic -- your game idea -- is intrinsically light-hearted, and silly, and I'd enjoy playing it. We are arguing about what happens in a Mexican bar. Please get the chip off your shoulder. If I came across as judgmental and moralistic I apologize -- not my intent! |
John the OFM | 10 Sep 2024 12:30 p.m. PST |
Arguing through what happens in a Mexican bar (is it "Mexican" that sets you off??? 🤔) into a synopsis of the decline in American culture is not light hearted silliness. I think you're backtracking. You were lecturing. Admit it. Anyway, it's easy to find matching foot and mounted cowboys. I'm looking for a matching wounded figure. |
doc mcb | 10 Sep 2024 1:08 p.m. PST |
Sigh. No, even when I was lecturing on that, it was fun. When I taught in the prison (Walker State, outside of Chickamauga, GA) they let me do pretty much whatever subjects I chose, and so I really did play those three songs and gave them the lyrics -- though of course they already knew them, mostly -- and then asked them to write 500 words for the next week's class on what, if anything, the songs revealed about our culture. About 20 men, including half a dozen murderers and two armed robbers. About half agreed with you and half with me, so it is a debatable question. I also had them do the same with the old Anglo-Saxon poem The Wanderer, bouncing it off S&G's "The Boxer. Played the clip from THE TWO TOWEERS of Theoden quoting it. Some of the best classes I ever enjoyed teaching. |

My original post, before it got hijacked, was a simple request for matching mounted, foot and rounded cowboy. One. Just one. It's easy to find a set without the wounded guy. I may have to do head swaps. I also got a Felina! I'm planning a small Brigade Games order soon anyway. I need rowers for a Moby Dick game… So it's a simple add on. Can we please return to our usual program? Please? |
Murphy | 10 Sep 2024 4:03 p.m. PST |
"Which is irrelevant for the song and game of course." Never said it was. Just said "FWIW"… Have fun! |
Shagnasty | 10 Sep 2024 5:11 p.m. PST |
A great Felina! Dixon had some great wounded/ dead cowboys. I've got a couple in some Mex/A War stuff I bought a few years back.If you can't find anything else let me know and you can have one. You'd probably have to repaints him. They are hat-less wearing a vest but no gun belt as I recall. Let me know. |
John the OFM | 10 Sep 2024 6:34 p.m. PST |
Ah. Dixon has great dead and wounded cowboys. Plus drunken wenches brawling on the saloon floor, and a "soiled dove" pulling boots off a dead or passed out …. Could he be the wild handsome young cowboy shot by Marty? Okay, Professor. My wants and needs have been answered. Hijack away! Moralize! Preach it! |
John the OFM | 10 Sep 2024 6:41 p.m. PST |
Thank you, Shagnasty. But I'll get my own. |
John the OFM | 11 Sep 2024 3:04 p.m. PST |
Thank you Greylegion. I just ordered the Mariachi Band (everyone needs one, hainna?) which includes Wicked Felina. I also ordered some Navy Rowers to go in my whaleboats for my Moby Dick project. I got a nice scale sperm whale at Michael's for $8.95 USD. 🐳😄 |

See the new Knucklebuster ad. |
John the OFM | 12 Sep 2024 9:49 a.m. PST |
Yeah. I just saw it. But my Mariachi band from Brigade Games is in the hands of USPS. I don't know if the Knuckleduster set can be ordered. I'm not about to order $100 USD worth just to get it "free". Hopefully it will be available separately soon. I ordered an adobe set from Thingsfromthebasement. The larger one looks just like the pictures I Googled for Rosa's Cantina. I don't think that's a coincidence. |
John the OFM | 12 Sep 2024 9:54 a.m. PST |
This is the ideal "new project" for me. I've long sworn off things like brand new Mexican American War, or War of 1812 projects. Adding a dancer to my, and the Club's Texas and Cowboys is easy. Just like adding a $9 USD sperm whale to Pirates gives me a Moby Dick project. |
doc mcb | 12 Sep 2024 10:47 a.m. PST |
I have all of TFTB's Sleepy Hollow buildings. I need to look at their adobes. |
